Welcome to "What’s New" at Wild by Nature.
We hope you have all had a good year and have had time to get out and enjoy the wonders of the natural world. This page is our way of letting you know what we've been up to at Wild by Nature and to keep you informed about current projects, the latest books and newly released limited edition prints. Thank you for your interest in our photography and we hope you will stop by the gallery and say hello if you are planning a visit to Jackson Hole.

It has been another busy year for Henry, Valerie, Avery and Nellie and the rest of our Wild by Nature family Lane and Roberta. This summer we celebrated the Tenth Anniversary of Wild by Nature Gallery and twenty-five years of photographing in this wonderful valley with the release of our latest book “A Portrait of Jackson Hole & the Tetons”.  The book combines many of Henry’s classic photographs from the gallery along with scores of new images from all aspects of life in Jackson Hole. The people, activities, landscapes, wildlife and Jackson Hole’s rich history and ranching heritage are all brought to light in this photographic journey through all the seasons and corners of this unique mountain valley. We also featured several of our favorite images in our first ever Jackson Hole Calendar for 2008.

After getting the book ready for printing in January, Henry started the year off teaching a week long winter workshop in Yellowstone National Park. It proved to be a very fun and productive shoot with great weather, a great group of participants and wonderful guides and photo assistants. Workshops are also planned for January 2008 and 2009, as well as a fall workshop in the Tetons for 2008. To learn more about Henry’s workshops, which are conducted through Arizona Highways, visit www.friendsofazhighways.com

Much of the spring and early summer were devoted to photographing a variety of images for the new Laurence S. Rockefeller Preserve in Grand Teton National Park. The preserve encompasses the Rockefeller’s JY Ranch with a new visitor center along the Moose-Wilson Road slated to open in the summer of 2008. Henry also did many of the photographs for the displays at the new Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center in Moose, which opened with much fanfare in August. A big photograph of Avery in one of the display shots greets visitors as they enter the building. In other happenings, Henry was featured in the July 2007 issue of Wildlife Art News in an article entitled “The Right Place at The Right Time”.  The article gives readers insight into Henry’s approach to photography and to selling his photographs as fine art. He also had "Winter's Refuge" included in the National Geographic's Collector's Edition "The Best Wildlife Photographs".  This special edition highlights the editors favorite images from recent issues of National Geographic Magazine and will be on newstands in November.

In August Henry, Valerie and Avery hit the road for some fun and sun in the Pacific Northwest. They enjoyed biking, hiking and sea kayaking in the San Juan Islands of Washington and spent some time photographing seals, seascapes and killer whales. Then it was back to Wyoming for fall colors and fresh snow on the mountains.

Avery is having fun in second grade and continues to dance, bike, hike, climb, explore and ski to her hearts content.  “Whoa Nellie”, the golden retriever, turns four in December and will most likely be trying to steal your gloves if you come by the gallery this winter. We hope you enjoy the new images and we look forward to hearing from you in the future.
